In the Garden

No-Dig gardens provide one of the most sustainable ways to grow food. They mimic nature and are sublimely easy to care for. If you want to learn more and get hands-on experience in constructing one (no tools required), please join us in the garden of Melbourne_Vernacular for a 90 minute workshop.

You’ll be helping the owners transform their existing raised garden beds into the multi-layered form that is the feature of this high-producing, low-maintenance type of garden.

Before heading out to the garden there’ll be a short info session about sustainable gardening with a focus on water-wise techniques. A major part of the workshop will be outdoors so we advise wearing appropriate clothing, including garden gloves if you need them.

At the end of this session you’ll be more than capable of creating a No-Dig garden in your own back yard, on your deck or even a balcony space. You’ll also get a print-out with No-Dig garden specifications and some seedlings to take home.

The event costs $10 and each session is limited to 12 people. Exact address will be provided closer to the date.

THIS EVENT WILL BE OFFERED AGAIN IN SPRING.

In The House

Owners of Melbourne Vernacular, Leanne and Scott, opened their doors on Sustainable House Day last year and now welcome you back to a series of fun and informal Q&A sessions in their home.

The first of this series will focus on how to get started on your sustainable build or renovation. Come and pick the brains of the owners and walk away with some great ideas, useful contacts and the confidence to get going on your own sustainability project.

Check out the couple’s events page on their website for all the info regarding upcoming events.

THIS EVENT WILL BE OFFERED AGAIN LATER IN THE YEAR. IMG_0325
